East Austin Hotel Recap + Details!

I had the pleasure of collaborating with the East Austin Hotel a few weeks ago with Max for a little weekend getaway & we were more than impressed with our room, the service, the location & of course the aesthetic of the hotel! We have stayed at boutique hotels before and we love the different vibe it brings! It is a completely different atmosphere than a chain hotel can offer and you don't feel like you are staying in a city at all, not in Austin! You know the staff and they know your names. Carter, one of the front desk workers knew my name right when I walked in and I was NOT wearing pink :) The staff was very friendly and willing to help throughout the entire weekend.

The East Austin Hotel is located just 5 blocks from downtown Austin, TX. This unique Boutique Hotel has 75 European inspired rooms, three different dining areas including "The Pool Bar", "The Upside Bar" - the rooftop restaurant, & "Sixth and Waller" - a global diner, which is currently serving breakfast for hotel guests for breakfast daily from 9am-11am. And you guessed it… It is pink!

ROOMS

We stayed in a Poolside King Room which had a great view overlooking the Courtyard Pool. In the room, they had a robe and a caftan, which we took full advantage of as you will see in the pictures! I have to say, we both slept so well and after someone asked about the mattress, I found out it was a Casper mattress! One of our favorite parts of the room was the balcony because we just got to sit in the comfy chairs, relax, feel a breeze and just hang out. Other room amenities: Free wifi, Keurig machine, custom pool towels, TV, and the old school radio was awesome!

OTHER ROOMS

Poolside Suites - Largest King rooms overlooking the pool connecting to adjoining rooms with two Queen sized beds. These rooms also include a separate seating area and a wet-bar. They have a spacious patio, more beds and an extra bathroom to accommodate the numbers.

The Waller Wing- These rooms are available with either a King beds or two Queen beds overlooking Waller Street. They may not be overlooking the pool, but they are PINK!

Cabins- these are the most affordable rooms with Queen beds and they share a community type bathroom. After looking at them & even talking to a guest who was staying in one of them, they are quite private and clean. Each bathroom has a full bath and sink and an enclosed door for full privacy and after each person leaves, it is immediately cleaned. This is a great way if you want to getaway & save money at a much more affordable price!

RESTURANTS

THE UPSIDE BAR

This is the rooftop restaurant and bar open to the hotel as well as the public. Reservations are optional, but they have seating inside and cute patio seating area outside. We ate there the first night and we both got cheeseburgers, chips and salsa, fries and some cocktails (The Painkiller and Rose Margarita) and we were not disappointed, or hungry after we left! We ate a bit earlier because we were so exhausted and by the time we were going to bed and we looked across the hotel and the rooftop was pretty crowded so it was definitely the place to be! The menu had an assortment of American food for appetizers, entrees and desserts.

SIXTH AND WALLER

What pink dreams and home decor goals are made of! Apparently this is quite the photo spot! Right now, it is only open to hotel guests daily for breakfast from 9am to 11am. They had a wide variety of coffee drinks, and a continental style breakfast at an extra cost.

THE POOL BAR

This is a small seating area next to the pool which is open to the public and the hotel guests! You do not need a reservation, although you can make one if you'd like! It did seem crowded when we were there on Saturday with people coming in and out from the public and getting drinks from the pool, so that is a good sign they are doing great business after recovering from the pandemic! They have a wide variety of cocktails and our favorites happen to be the Paloma and the Rose margarita! You can also order your food and drinks to take to the pool.

COURTYARD POOL

This is where we spent most of the day on Saturday (right next to the Pool Bar) and it was quite the place to be! This was totally fine by me because I am a summer girl through and through! We made friends with quite a few people who were in town for a wedding or just visiting the place and we just got to relax and enjoy. They do offer pool passes at a cost for the public so make sure you get there early to get your seats! They will not do this if the hotel is at full capacity.

EVENTS

The hotel also hosts private events. You just fill out a submission form online and depending on how many people, the type of the event and what room you would like to hold it in. People have done rooftop weddings held conference room meetings in a room called "The Den" and other private parties and events. Fill out your form here to get your estimate and your party started!

PARKING

The hotel offers underground parking for an extra cost which we thought was so convenient. It was very secure and gated and we really didn’t need the car that much because most everything you can really just walk to if you are looking to stay downtown and get some extra steps in! We drove a few places that morning because we weren’t exactly sure where we were going. The hotel is not valet parking, so you can come and go as you wish.

OTHER AMENITIES

  • Read about Covid Procedures here

  • Some other amenities and perks that they offer are:

  • Refrigerator

  • Free Bottled Water

It is my understanding that this hotel is already booked up on the weekends for the rest of the summer (only 75 rooms!) so make sure you book something quick! We will definitely be visiting this hotel next time we are in Austin!
