The Glory of Easter!

Ever since I was little, my family celebrated Easter in a big way! We always went to church, of course. Church was followed by family lunch at a restaurant. After lunch, we would return home where we would usually have some sort of Easter egg hunt. Over the years, these traditions continue - we would watch my nephew, Matt, find eggs in the backyard, and today, we get to watch my nephews & niece hunt for eggs!

Going to church on Easter Sunday was always part of our routine, and each year, I would hear the same story that I knew very well - God sent his only Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross to save us from our sins, and He rose again on the third day. Because I grew up in the church, I always had knowledge of this story, but I don’t believe I fully grasped its significance. This past month, and especially this week, I am understanding the true meaning of Easter more and more. I know I am saved and going to Heaven, but I have struggled with fully surrendering my life to the Lord. Sometimes, you have to hit rock bottom for the Lord to show you that His way is the ONLY way. In the past, I only wanted to surrender certain parts of my life in fear of what that might mean for the other parts that I desperately wanted to keep. Also, I honestly didn’t think the Lord would want to forgive some of the things I have done. But I am wrong. Despite every mistake I make - again and again, on a daily basis - I am forgiven. God's grace and mercy are so big, and He loves me (and YOU) so much. I am so thankful that all of this is finally hitting my heart now and that He continues to reveal himself to me. I may feel like I’m at rock bottom, but often times, it’s just the beginning of something new.

Jesus said to her,

"I am the Resurrection and the Life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in Me will never die."

John 11:25-26

I want to encourage all of you - God loves you, no matter what you have done or what you will do. You are never too far from God's grace and redemption. No struggle or sin is too great to surrender your life to Christ.
