Broken Bow, OK- Recap & Must Do's!

I talk a lot about "self care" and it looks different for everyone. For me personally, it is spending time with Lord and truly relaxing. Doing nothing. That is exactly what I got to do last weekend. It is completely different from going to NYC that's for sure! You can sit outside for hours - without any noise or other distractions getting in the way. I found out a lot of people don't even know about Broken Bow and I am like, WHAT! If you have never heard of these hidden cabins in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, I have to tell you all about our weekend getaway with my family! There are hundreds of cabins out in the woods – and I am not talking old cabins, I am talking nice “glamping” type cabins – depending on the owners/size – you can get hot tub, huge yard, playground, fire-pit, and it is basically a full house inside! The ones I have stayed in each time have included all of these amenities, but I DO have a bigger family. This trip is also perfect for a girl’s trip, bachelorette party or a couple’s getaway!

Hidden Acres - This is very similar to the cabin we stayed in!

They also have smaller cabins – if you wanted to go with just one other person – which Max and I did two years ago, and it was so nice. Yes, you may be in the woods, and we always take full advantage of that by roasting marshmallows, sitting by the fire-pit, relaxing, etc., but there are some fun local things to do too! We always stock up at the grocery store when we get there or bring some food from home, but we have a couple favorite things we like to do when we go!

Girls Gone Wine – Ladies, this store/winery is adorable! They have wine tasting inside, and this past weekend, it was so crowded that we didn’t even get to try any! Tons of souvenirs, picture-worthy spots, a cute patio & great wine makes for a fun little outing for the girls! Check it out here.

Grateful Head – The best pizza + tap room in town, by far. It’s just a regular pizza place, nothing fancy. This place is always hopping!! They serve local & regional beers from across the state. Fun fact: it used to be an old school house! Check them out here.

Hochatown Saloon – My sister recommended this restaurant this past weekend, and we really enjoyed it! They have a HUGE variety of food on their menu, a full bar, and after 9pm, they start dancing!! Country style of course! They bring in their own DJ’s and bands and stay open until 2am! Periodically, they also have events and concerts going on that you can buy tickets for, OR you can book a private event there. Checkout their menu/website!

Petting Zoo – We went here with my nephews, and originally, I thought, “Okay, this will just be the basic animals like any other petting zoo, and it will be fun for the kiddos!” WRONG. BEST PETTING ZOO EVER Y’ALL. You know what I got to hold? A skunk. That’s right, I said it. SKUNK. They had removed the sprayer and passed this big guy around – and he was the softest, cutest and most jelly-like creature ever! A big ball of mush! We were all in complete shock how adorable he was. Seriously considering how we can get one as a pet one day. Okay, other animals we got to see were horses, deer, donkeys, llamas, a turtle, a snake (Yep, held this one too! Pretty proud of myself!), fox, bunnies, cows, turkeys, pigs & MORE! What I love about this particular petting zoo is that they take in animals from the wild that are injured and either rehabilitate them or just keep them if they couldn’t survive anywhere else. <3 Only $8! Check out their Facebook page!

Beavers Bend State Park – Max and I kind of stumbled upon this (lol we didn’t even realize it) and we LOVED IT! It was so quiet, and we loved being able to just walk around, get some fresh air and take in the views! Not to mention it was really beautiful 😊 There is a lot of space for camping in the area, so if you prefer the real thing, that’s an option too! If you stay in a cabin during "off-season" (aka summer) - prices are way down & you can do all the fun things on the lake and at the state park! More info here!

Our weekend consisted of playing games, napping, sitting around, going to the petting zoo, eating, making smores, hot tubbing & more! Anyways, start planning your weekend in Broken Bow – it is totally worth it! And if you are in the Dallas area, it is not too far and not too expensive! They periodically have sales too. Our weather was perfect (50-60 degrees) because we were able to do everything outside and inside. I know there are more things to discover in this cute little town, but I’m just looking forward to making more memories and having more adventures in the future with my husband, family and friends!

I hope you have a great weekend!!

Xoxo,
