30th Barbie Bash

I have always LOVED Barbie’s! Like most girls, I played with them growing up and have even collected a few over the years. So, when coming up with a theme for my 30th birthday party, I wanted to do something pink-themed (duh), and I wanted it to be fun and silly. I love planning/decorating, so I thought it would be perfect to combine all of my favorite things and have a Barbie Bash – so the planning started! My sweet husband, Max (who is NOT into crafts), helped me build 2 life-sized Barbie boxes that people could get inside to take pictures! We also made a balloon arch with some Pinterest inspiration. Most of the decorations were from Dollar Tree (I always go there first!), Party City, Etsy, and Hobby Lobby. (WARNING! Hobby Lobby is dangerous, friends – every week, different items are 50% off! Check it out! ) I also re-used some of my wedding décor or used items I already owned – I have a lot of pink things, obviously. If you’re wondering, yes, I did have a Barbie cake – and she was beautiful & DELICIOUS.

I’m actually looking forward to my 30’s. I feel like I am fully living now, and I am very happy. I don’t think it’s about how old you are – it’s about how much you’ve grown as a person, no matter where you came from. Don’t get me wrong – I still have a lot of growing to do! The party was FUN, and one of my main goals is to not take life so serious! It is too short, and I want to enjoy each day! Recently, Max and I saw The Greatest Showman (which we LOVED!), and I feel like these lyrics from the film sum up my feelings PERFECTLY:

“When the sharpest words wanna cut me down,

I’m gonna send a flood, gonna drown them out.

I am brave, I am bruised,

I am who I’m meant to be,

this is ME!”

- This is Me , from The Greatest Showman

(Music and Lyrics by Benj Pasek & Justin Paul).
